What is Meditation?

Meditation isn’t just about silencing the mind; it’s about observing thoughts without judgment. Here’s how you can give it a try: Find a comfortable, quiet space. Sit or lie down, close your eyes, and breathe naturally. Focus on your breath, gently guiding your attention back if it wanders. With regular practice, meditation can become a tool for managing stress, enhancing self-awareness, and fostering emotional balance.

Does Meditation Work?

Research shows that meditation isn’t just a spiritual practice; it has tangible health benefits. Studies indicate that regular meditation reduces stress hormones, lowers blood pressure, and improves overall emotional well-being. Scientifically proven, it enhances focus and promotes a sense of calm, making it a vital tool in navigating our fast-paced lives.

Incorporating Aromatherapy and Essential Oils into your Meditation Practice:

Integrating essential oils and aromatherapy into meditation amplifies its effects. The olfactory system, our sense of smell, is closely linked to the brain's emotional center. When combined, specific scents like lavender, frankincense, or citrus can deepen relaxation, making meditation more accessible and profound.

Basil Essential Oil (Ocimum basilicum) is steam distilled from the fragrant leaves of the basil herb. The aroma, along with its medical applications used by centuries of herbalists, has shown us that Basil essential oil can support the rhythm of our breathing and connect us to our spiritual side.

Lavender Essential Oil (Lavandula angustifolia) - Lavender essential oil is steam distilled from the lavender flowers of the lavender bush-like herb.  Its healing benefits are many, but one its most powerful aroma therapeutic actions is to soothe away nervous stress and tension, calming both the body and mind. Like rosemary and peppermint it is also pain relieving and a great oil to use for headache relief for its deeply calming effects.

Orange Essential Oil (Citrus sinensis) - Orange essential oil is expressed (squeezed) from the peel of the orange fruit.  It’s mostly composed of one molecule that has been shown to soothe away discomfort and uplift our mood.  Its bright, uplifting orange-y scent can bring a deep sense of contentment and joy.

Frankincense Essential Oil (Boswellia serrata) - This species of frankincense essential oil is steam distilled from the resin of the frankincense tree that grows in India.  It has a distinctly different aromatic profile from the frankincense we are more familiar with from East Africa and Oman, but offers very similar benefits.  It is a great oil to choose for headache relief because it can effectively soothe away worry and quiet an overactive mind, and ease away pain.

Roll On DIY Recipe

Steps to make your meditation roll on:

  1. Measure out your 2 tsp of Jojoba Oil and add to your glass beaker. Use one of the disposable pipettes if needed to precisely dispense the Jojoba oil.
  2. Add all essential oils to Jojoba oil and mix well.  Use your disposable pipettes to dispense your essential oils if you are finding the essential oil bottle’s dropper isn’t flowing correctly.  If you want to use the pipette, you’ll have to remove the plastic orifice reducer of the essential oil bottle first.  And make sure not to use the same dropper for all the essential oils - you don’t want to cross contaminate the scents!
  3. Once all the essential oils and jojoba oil are well blended, pour carefully into your roller bottle and snap in the “ball” insert, shake, cap and label!  Now it is ready to use.

How to Use

The best and most effective way to use your DIY Aromatherapy Roll-on, is to dab your temples and top and back of your head before you start your meditation practice.  Make sure to keep away from eyes, and avoid rolling on your face. Just keep to your temples, back of neck and upper chest

"I recently researched the best treatment for dry skin and scalp...I then came across some helpful info on the benefits of Jojoba oil and decided to look for an organic brand. Your oil is truly wonderful. I now use it exclusively for skin and scalp, only adding frankincense essential oil for its calming effects. This combo is exceptional. I'm very glad I found Cliganic."
